My series “LOST NAME” is about the consumption and deprivation of “personal names” as symbols that are defenseless and vulnerable. In this series, I use a prism attached to the lens to create the effect that people appear to be a mass of color, and that they are not clearly visible in front of you. Conversely, I tried to visualize anonymity by emphasizing shadows.
The characteristics of the SNS society, where anonymity is easily linked to violence against individuals with real names, the pessimistic prediction of the erosion of individual creative activities by generative AI without an author's name, and the “power” of the “state” that regards people as a collective with no name and deprives individuals of their names in an instant - these are all examples of different natures, but they can be interpreted as contexts that show the fragility of individual names and existence. In this series, I have expressed the anxiety I felt through photography.
